Italy’s heart is in the small countries, there is no doubt!
Gubbio, a town on the high Umbria very close to the Tuscany region.
A medieval village, all medieval where you can breath medieval air!
From the village you can still see the wall that goes around. The country is all one of small streets, bridges, stone houses that brings the traveler to the time of fairy tales.
The food is fabulous, the kitchen is full of strong flavours and refined at the same time. I savored the crostini with dried cod on mashed potato bed, Tortellini with guinea hen, rice with chestnut cream and white truffles (this weekend was the festival of the truffle) and finally cheesecake with raspberries, all very delicate and tasty. All this cooked by two young entrepreneurs chef (we met one of them, Francesco Palermo) who opened this restaurant 8 months ago in Via dei consuli! Highly recommended! Besides, they are all super friendly and very helpful. And … There is no doubt that in small towns are all more relaxed and life flows slowly and tasty. A beautiful surprise. If you want to discover the real Italy go in this towns.

Il cuore dell’Italia è nei piccoli Paesi, non c’è dubbio! The heart of Italy is in the smaller town, there is no doubt!
Gubbio, un paese sull’alta Umbria molto vicino alla regione Toscana.
Un paese medievale, tutto medievale dove si respira aria medievale!
Dal paese si vede ancora la cinta muraria che gli gira intorno. Il paese è un tutt’uno di piccole stradine, ponticelli , case in pietra che riportano il viaggiatore al tempo delle favole.
Il cibo è favoloso, la cucina è ricca di sapori forti e raffinati allo stesso tempo. Ho assaporato dei crostini al baccalà su letto di purè di patate, Tortellini alla faraona, Riso con crema di castagna e tartufo bianco ( in questo fine settimana c’era la festa del tartufo) ed infine cheesecake con lamponi, tutto molto delicato e saporito. Tutto questo cucinato da due giovani chef imprenditori ( abbiamo conosciuto uno dei due, Francesco Palermo) che hanno aperto questa Officina dei Sapori da 8 mesi in Via dei consoli! Consigliatissima! Oltretutto sono tutti super cordiali , gentili, ci sanno fare! E…Non c’è dubbio che nei piccoli paesini siano tutti più rilassati e la vita scorra lenta e più gustosa.Una bellissima Sorpresa. Se volete scoprire la vera Italia andate nei paesi.
Un altro interessante posto è L’osteria dei Re, tipica cucina Eugubina http://www.osteriadeire.com dove abbiamo gustato pietanze a base di tartufo bianco!
