When I was a child I started discovering the freshness of the mountains. In summer time it is so nice when you leave the city and the hot for green fields and big mountains. Another panorama.
The seaside is beautiful as well, but when you have the view of the mountains in front of your eyes, you have to admit that you are in paradise!
I am talking about the Dolomites ( Dolomiti) The Italian Alps, Unesco Heritage. The name derives from the French geologist Deodat de Dolomieu ( 1750-1801) who was the first that studied these rocks composed of calcium carbonate and magnesium.
Lake Braies is a small alpine lake that is located 97 km from Bolzano,in Alto Adige, otherwise called South Tirol. The region is known for its natural beauty, lakes, UNESCO Heritage Mountains, the Dolomites, and uncontaminated landscapes.
The lake,with its crystal-clear water of turquoise green, is at a height of 1500 meters in Alta Pusteria surrounded by an immense massif 2810 meters high, “La Croda del Becco”.
The best trained can get to the top of the summit to admire a breathtaking landscape but you have to climb uphill for at least 4 hours.While if you want to make a quieter walk (about an hour) you can take a walk along a trail around the lake.Cycle trips, boat or picnic trips can be arranged.
For mountain lovers the Dolomites are perhaps like Swarovski for precious things lovers. In summer or in winter the landscape changes but is always very fascinating. I have been going to the mountains since I was a child and when I was 14 I took ski lessons that gave me the fortune to discover the beauty of the mountains in winter as well.
Ortisei -St Ulrich is a town in Val Gardena- Alto Adige region (North of Italy) where I always go! It Is a town with 5000 people, lovely town surrounded by Sassolungo, Passo Sella, the Italian mountains which all together form the Dolomites.
The Food is amazing, as we are in Italy! 🙂
